For about fifty years, my grandfather, Igal Cohen, ran a Judaica shop in Tel Aviv. Families came to him for a first Star of David, a menorah for a new home, a kiddush cup for a wedding. He knew which piece would be passed down, and he took the time to explain what each symbol meant. Over those years, more than 40,000 happy customers walked through the door of his shop in Tel Aviv.
My name is Gal Igal Cohen. I carry his name as my middle name, and Cohen Jewels carries it too.
What we do
We choose Jewish jewelry and Judaica for people in the United States: Star of David necklaces, hamsa and Tree of Life pieces, and designer Hanukkah menorahs. Nearly all of our jewelry is 925 sterling silver or gold plated sterling silver, and every product page tells you exactly what you are buying: the metal, how big it is and what the symbol means.
How we choose
A piece makes it into the store when it would have earned a place in my grandfather's window: a symbol drawn correctly, a finish that holds up, a price that is fair for what it is. We would rather carry fewer pieces and describe each one properly.
